North Amityville New Firehouse  on Route 110. 1/4 mile north of Sunrise Hwy (rt 27)  1/2 mile south of exit #32 of Southern State Pkwy

Bethpage High School,:  School is located at the intersection of Stewart and Cherry Avenues in Bethpage, NY Exit 9 on Route 135

United Methodist Church, 265 Asbury Ave,. in Westbury. Church is located 100ft. west of Post Ave. at Northern State Parkway Exit # 32

St. Ignatius Loyola,  30 East Cherry Street, Hicksville

LIE Exit 41S or Northern State Exit 35S, take route 107/Broadway past LIRR station to Cherry St. Make a left turn onto Cherry and pull into the parking lot by the school.

Freeport Recreational Center, 130 East Merrick Road, Freeport Merrick Rd. exit M9 West off Meadowbrook Pkwy

Temple Beth David,  100 Hauppauge Rd., Commack

The directions to the temple are-Northern State Parkway to Commack Road Exit 43 OR LIE (exit 52)  go north (left if coming from Nassau or the city) onto Commack Road. Travel about 2 miles to Hauppauge Road (there is a golf course on the left), make a LEFT turn. Continue on Hauppauge Road past the nursing home and Suffolk "Y" the Temple is at 100 Hauppauge Road (has a barrel roof).

 

Railroad Museum of Long Island

 

Starting April 14, 2006 with the return of warmer weather the World's Fair Miniature train will run every Saturday, weather permitting, from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Call the museum to verify if the train will be running that day.

The Greenport site will be open 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from May 26, 2007, (Memorial Day weekend.) to October 8, 2007 (Columbus Day weekend). However, the museum will open for Santa's visit on December 1 and 2, 2007 from 12:00 noon to 3:30 PM each day. For more information you may call the Museum at (631) 477-0439.

Directions to the Riverhead Site - The Riverhead Visitor's Center is located at 416 Griffing Avenue, just north of the railroad tracks. It is accessible by railroad, bus and automobile.

To get to the restoration site by the Long Island Rail Road or bus take either to the Riverhead railroad station. The museum restoration site is directly across the tracks and across Griffing Avenue from the station. For schedule and fare information, you may call the LIRR at (631) 231-LIRR or visit their web page.

To get to the restoration site by automobile from western Long Island, take the Long Island Expressway eastbound to Exit 72, NYS Route 25 East (Main Street). Follow Route 25 approximately three miles. Turn left onto Griffing Avenue and proceed for two blocks. The museum is on the right just over the railroad tracks.

To get to the restoration site by automobile from the north fork, take NYS Route 25 through downtown Riverhead. Turn right onto Griffing Avenue and proceed for two blocks. The museum is on the right just over the railroad tracks.

To get to the restoration site by automobile from the south fork, follow local roads to the Peconic Avenue/Riverhead traffic circle. Proceed north on Peconic Avenue to Main Street. Turn left for one block and then turn right onto Griffing Avenue and proceed for two blocks. The museum is on the right just over the railroad tracks.

Parking is available on site and the museum building and grounds are handicapped accessible. The rail cars have limited access.
